The world famous conjoined twins were born into slavery in 1851 in Columbus County and were taken as far as Europe for public exhibition. They became accomplished writers, singers, and dancers and spoke five languages. Before they died in 1912, the twins were able to buy and live on the plantation where they were born. Descendants of Millie-Christine McKoy are encouraged to attend. |
